Exploration & Learnings
Exploring the world around us and learning from others.
Chheda ak Soow
While I took my Gap Year in Senegal, I learned and collected recipes from my host family, friends, and community. I posted this recipe on my Senegal blog, but since taking that down, I thought I would re-share some of the recipes:) I can’t remember who’s recipes this was. It was either Yaay’s or a community member that showed me. This is not my favorite dish, but if one was running low on time it was always handy to have in the fridge or freezer. Sometimes the school shop would make them and I would pick them up before heading to a friend’s house.

I used to have a website that hosted all my recipes, blogs, photos, and videos from my gap year in Senegal. I recently took the website down, so I thought I would post them here. I only have a couple of blogs I wrote back then. I remembering writing this blog after everyone went to bed while listening to the thunderstorm. This blog was originally posted on 9/19/2019.

I posted this recipe on my Senegal blog, but since taking that down, I thought I would re-share some of the recipes:) This specific recipe comes from my Yaay (host mother). Marika’s Garlic Goat Cheese Butter
This is Marika’s Garlic Goat Cheese Butter. She let me try her butter when I went to visit her. I have to say that this does not taste the same as hers, but it does come close. This is because it can only taste the same if you go to Georgia, get fresh goat cheese from the local farmers, and then bring it back to the states. Something about the cheese is much richer over there, but give it a try because it tastes great!

100 Food Shea Likes
I've realize that I am a somewhat picky eater. I'm willing to try almost anything, but I can't guarantee that I'll like it. I would say about 70% of the time, I don't, which is always followed up by, “Shea, what do you like?” My initial response is, "Well, sweet potatoes, cereal..." and then I draw a blank. So, I have decided to make a list of 100 things I like to help myself and my friends. Especially me because when I go to the grocery store I never know what to buy. This way, I have a quick handy dandy list on my phone.
Overnight Oats
I came across a TikTok where a lady made overnight oats out of blended oatmeal. This reminded me of the overnight oats I use to make in high school, so I had to experiment with some recipes and thought I would share. I can’t remember the TikTok I found, but once I find it I will share the account.
Bear Cave Brewing
Location: 1201 Mainstreet, Hopkins, MN 55343
I would give the overall rating a 5.2 out of 10. It's not the best, but it is not the worst. There is a lot of different reason why they got this score. I understand that they are new, so I gave it a 5.2 and not a 4.8.
Slap in the Face
I was just slapped in the face with a healthy dose of bronchitis. I can't tell if I am lucky or unlucky because my two roommates have tested positive for Covid.
School Abroad + Weekend
Taking a whole semester of classes in 10 weeks is a little difficult, let alone doing half a semester's credit in 5 weeks is out of this world. I am taking 7.5 credits right now, which is definitely kicking my butt.
First full day in Dublin, Ireland
Today I spent the day exploring Ireland. I first checked out of my hotel and then made my way down to The Old Storehouse bar & restaurant. This is where my "free" walking tour started…
Great News!
After applying to 37 different internships and 21 interviews, I finally landed an Internship. The funny thing is the internship I got, I did not apply for it until after I got an offer.
January Collection
This is a collections of writings through out the month of January.
What is a collection? These kinds of posts are a miss-match of thought that I have collected. These are clippets of writing from study breaks, half-written posts, and random mindless typing…
