Great News!

After applying to 37 different internships and 21 interviews, I finally landed an Internship. The funny thing is the internship I got, I did not apply for it until after I got an offer.

I have a video that might come out a little later about my internship process, and there are many clips of me reacting or learning about my rejections. Even though I was constantly told that I was not what they were looking for, I was determined to get an internship in the fall, and I would do almost anything to get one. I do have to say I was losing hope in the process 3/4 the way through because, after interviews, I was constantly hearing that they would like to set up a second or third round interview and then suddenly getting an email back the morning of the interview saying they were no longer interested or they have already filled the position was taking a toll on me.

What was funny about this internship opportunity is that when I went into the call, I was excepting to ask about the Process Development Team and what they are looking for in a person, and what she would do in my case of not having any internship experience. One of the main questions I ask everyone is what opportunities will help a candidate stand out if they have no previous experience in the industry. This was a hot question for me because when I was getting rejected, most of them said they wanted someone with 2-3 previous internship experience. I wanted to know how to show the companies that they should take a chance on me even though I have no experience in the industry. For me, the interview was going that way for the most part, but near the end, I started to get the sense that I may be interviewing for potential placement in her division. Then at the end of the interview, when we were saying goodbye, she mentioned that she would let me know by the end of the week about her decision and see if I would fit well in her division, and at that instance, I knew that this was not just a regular phone call to network and learn about her journey to Boston Scientific.

Oh, I forgot to tell you I got an internship at Boston Scientific (BSC). I will be working in Maple Grove on the Proceess Development Metal+ Group. This is exciting because many people I talk to love BSC, and I am excited to get hands-on experience, ask questions in the field, and understand what I fully want to do with my degree.

Until next time,

SK
