School Abroad + Weekend
Taking a whole semester of classes in 10 weeks is a little difficult, let alone doing half a semester's credit in 5 weeks is out of this world. I am taking 7.5 credits right now, which is definitely kicking my butt. Every class, we have 1-2 weeks of material put into a 2-hour class, which does not include the time it takes to study or do homework. On the plus side, if I do not like the class, I only have to withstand it for 5 weeks. Sadly I like all the classes, and it's hard for me not to want to fully understand what's happening. There is just not enough time in the day to retain all the material. Another plus is that we only have 4 days of classes and 3 days a week to travel or cram for school.
This weekend I spent my time at a Uke festival, a Hurling game, and the Connemara National Park.
The Uke fest is not what I thought it would be. I thought the whole town would be celebrating, but it was a small community of people who traveled all around the world to play with each other. Some of them found each other because, during Covid, they started a Facebook group and started to play online together. I would not have been able to find the festival if I did not ask around because when I found the restaurant, the waister had to walk a couple of other musicians and me to the top floor. The festival was cute, but I do not think it would be worth making the whole day revolve around the Uke fest.
After the Uke festival, we went to the Hurling game. The game is interesting, but I don't fully understand its hype. To me, it was just like watching a football game. I think watching lacrosse is a lot more interesting. I am glad I went to one game, but I do not think I would go see another one on my own. I might have liked the game better if I got a seat ticket because I was standing on my tip toes trying to see the field.
One thing this weekend I would recommend is hiking the Connemara National Park. You only need half a day to do this hike all the way up and down. There is also a little trail by the tea shop that I would also recommend going to. There is a small waterfall and lots of wildflowers and trees. This trail is a little tricky to find, but once you find it, it will be a nice peaceful walk.
I added a collection of photos throughout my weekend below.
