Chheda ak Soow
Servings about 7 people
Ingredient:
1/2 Kg millet seeds
2 tablespoons of butter (use more if needed to make the millet creamy)
Soow or vanilla yogurt
Directions:
In a large pot, bring the water to a boil.
Once the water is boiling, then add in the millet seeds. Stir and turn off the stove.
Let the millet sit in hot water for 30- 40 minutes.
Drain the water out of the pot and mix in the butter. Mix the butter until all millet is coated evenly.
Let the millet sit and cool.
Once the millet is cool, pour the soow over the millet. Add as much or as little as you like.
Transfer the liquid to baggies or cups with Popsicle sticks.
Once it is frozen, pull one out and enjoy. *You can also eat this cold, like in the picture.
Note from Shea:
I like 1 cup millet, to 2.5 cups Soow. If one does not like the slight sourness of the soow, then vanilla yogurt is good. If deciding to use vanilla yogurt, do not use the yogurt with vanilla seeds. Also, my favorite way of eating it was when it was frozen, but my family also ate it cereal style.
