The Rush of Excitment
The Rushing begins!!! Let me clear up the air. I am doing informal rushing known as COB (Continuous Open Bidding). This process usually happens in the Spring semester, when one or two sorority sisters meet you for coffee to chat for 30 min- 1 hr. To get a coffee date slot, one needs to either DM the society's Instagram, fill out google forms, or get a recommendation from a friend.
So far, I have had four different sorority coffee dates, so we will see if the other 3 will allow me to go on a coffee date with them. Just hoping that I get a chance to talk to them.
I am excited because I really want a family on campus, a sense of community, and a stable friend group. The only time I have a sense of community that I can depend on is my own family, which is good in all, but I have never experienced a community that has full heartily loved me for who I am. Also, don't get me wrong, I am also at fault because when things go bad, and I do not feel like I am welcomed, I turn the other way, afraid of being hurt. The only reason I started the COB process is to try and make and find a family on campus that I can have for more than a month or a couple of years. People that I can connect with and potentially be lifelong friends. I know that can sound far out, but if I do not try now, I probably won't try outside of college.
Wish me luck!
