Mellow Mushroom

Mellow Mushroom is a popular pizza chain around Atlanta Georgia and was founded by two Georgia Tech students in 1974. They are known for their pizza and their unique atmosphere at each restaurant. I only went to the Mellow Mushroom in downtown Atlanta, so the vibe I felt will be different if you go to another Mellow Mushroom.

Mellow Mushroom Atlanta - Downtown

I got the Funky Q. Chicken pizza, which was good but it was way over priced for what one gets. I ordered a small which was 4 slices $15.55 without tax and tip. No matter what size of pizza each slice is about $4 each. Don’t get me wrong the pizza was good with the golden onion with the BBQ sauce. The Sauce was on the sweeter side. I would say it’s the same sweetness as the Famous Dave's Sweet and Zesty sauce. The crust is a nice golden stove cooks crust remining me of the chewy ness of sourdough bread.

Reason for ratings:

  • I would prefer to get Papa John’s pizza over Mellow Mushroom. I could get a large all topping pizza for $1.50 more than a small Mellow Mushroom Funky Q. Chicken pizza. Triple the size for the basically the same price and quality.

  • The pizza tasted great. Usually I get a stomach ache from most pizza bread, but this one settled fine in my stomach. The BBQ sauce was on point, which usually makes or breaks the pizza and this time it made it.

  • Service we very good. The girl we had was very little hearted and was great at socializing. She knew her beers quite will, but did not fully know the menu that well. Also, the one thing that put me off was how they handle this guy falling asleep at his booth. It might have been one of the managers who handled it, but instead of tapping and slowly waking him up and telling he can’t sleep there. They kind of made a small scene which I understand, but I thought it could have been handled differently.

  • I lived the vibe at first. There was a lot of business people having lunch meeting on the patio outside. My friends and I had a nice time, but wished the light was a little bit brighter.
