Fire Ant Attack

I had a fiery start to the school year. This year I have decided that I will go to more events that are being held on campus to meet new people. I made this decision in the summer and thought I should start by going to the Sophomore social.

The day of the social was a humid, drizzly day. I decided to go to the social with one of my rowing friends. We were so excited to go to the event because we heard that there would be free food. When I got to the event, I B lined to the popsicle/ ice cream station and got myself a Bomb-Pop. At the event, there were people playing lawn games and basketball. We decided to sit on the side of the basketball court so we could watch the game.

After I was done with my popsicle, I noticed that the rain was not going down my back. It was going up my back. I started to look around me, and I saw ants on my phone, hands, and arm. I quickly noticed that the rain going up my back was, in fact, ants. I jutted up and started to look all around me. The friend I was sitting with did not have any ants on her, but I had a ton. My friend got up and started to help me hit the ants off of my arms, legs, and back. I thought I got all of the ants off of me, but I started to feel little tiny stings like what one feels when they are stung by blue cap jellyfish. That’s when I noticed that ants were in my spandex shorts and also in my bra. All I could think of was what the people thought of me while watching me hit myself.

I eventually got them all off and had a shower. While I was showing, I noticed that I had small red bumps over me. After 24 hours, my bites tripled in size and were hot to the touch. I went to the doctors, and I learned that my fire ant bites were infected, and I needed antibiotics to make them go away. Below is what some of my bits looked like. What I thought was weird was that only the bites on the right side were infected, but all of the others were perfectly fine. It is strange how some things work.

Wells see what other things sophomore year has in store for me:)
